Welcome to the Guymon Chamber of Commerce

Your Chamber does many things for the business and professional communities and the general public that they could not do alone. Your chamber provides services and many benefits that completely overshadow your membership investment cost. Come join the Guymon Chamber of Commerce to help make the community a fun and exciting place to be.

The mission of the Guymon Chamber of Commerce is:

“To develop, promote, and support business, leadership, economy, and quality of life in Guymon”.

We strive to achieve this by being a central force in the Guymon community and a place where local businesses can access resources and interact with other members of the business community.  Small to medium size businesses make up a majority of the total Chamber membership, and we are continually striving to achieve a high value of membership for our small business owners.

Tri-County Electric Dedicates New Substation in Guymon

HOOKER, Okla. (Oct. 27, 2009) – On Oct. 27, Tri-County Electric dedicated its new substation north of Guymon on East Street to retiree Paul Tucker. The Guymon Chamber of Commerce attended and held a ribbon cutting for the event.

Tucker Substation is a distribution substation that is an addition to the larger Thompson Substation at that location which is used for transmission. Tucker Substation replaces the Wiggins and Majestic substations in Guymon. These were not designed for the larger transformers needed to handle the growth Guymon has seen. Tucker Substation is better positioned to handle the larger demand.

“Paul Tucker was with Tri-County Electric for more than 12 years as our manager of Engineering and Operations,” said Tri-County Electric CEO Jack L. Perkins. “We felt that dedicating this substation in his honor was a good way to memorialize his contributions to our cooperative.”

Tucker remarked that he was with the cooperative through some times of tremendous growth, such as when Seaboard Foods moved into the area and their farming operations came onto cooperative lines as well as when the cooperative acquired Xcel territory in 2006. He said challenging times are ahead but noted that the strong management team in place is well positioned to meet them.
